Board of Directors
PRESIDENT - J.M. “Jim” Purvis is an author, educator, former journalist, and military veteran. He is also an American who cares deeply about his country and its future. Jim’s family roots are in small-town Indiana. Born in Ohio, Jim now lives in Brooklyn, New York.
FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT - State Representative Joe Miller proudly serves Lorain County (Ohio), where he grew up. Joe's diverse professional background spans both public and private sectors that provided him with deep insights into the challenges facing Ohio businesses.
Motivated by the events of September 11th, Joe returned to education, teaching at both high school and college levels. He is also a certified USGTF Professional Golf Instructor, an OHSAA Basketball Official, and an active volunteer in his church and community. Joe lives in Amherst with his wife Kelly, also an educator, their two sons, Joseph and Jordan, and their bulldog, Heisman.
As a dedicated advocate for quality education, job creation, renewable energy, and veterans' support, Joe is committed to driving meaningful change.
SECOND VICE- PRESIDENT - Adam is an accountant in New York and a dedicated democratic activist.
SECRETARY - Professionally, Prelipp has worked in private and public accounting, transitioning from manual ledgers to computer software programs.
She has served as Chair for the Huron County Board of Elections and the Democratic Party.
Karen served as an officer for the Federation of Business and Professional Women at the local and state levels and was a member of the National Board of Directors.
Prelipp is a longtime advocate for women’s rights and pay equity. Karen says “The Democratic Creed gives me the tools to have conversations that enable me to reach common ground using the shared values expressed there. We must recognize that we all want the same things, then we can have the debate about which policies best accomplish a just society for all.”

Democrats 101 Inc. is a 501(c)(4) non-profit corporation registered in the state of New York (USA). We are not a PAC. We do not engage in direct campaign activity. We do not endorse candidates or legislation, and we do not give out funding. Our sole aim is to set core American values as the basis for change, within the Democratic Party , and across America. Through publications, education, and organized events, Democrats 101 Inc. is bringing those values to the forefront of the political narrative throughout the nation.
